Engineer IV - Mechanical, National Renewable Energy Laboratory
Andrew works as a mechanical engineer in the Commercial Buildings Research group at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory. Since joining the lab in 2010, he has focused on making high-efficiency building design commonplace by making existing energy analysis tools more accessible. Past projects include the development of a now-commercialized mobile energy auditing tool, the development of the OpenStudio energy modeling platform, and the development of various software and analysis tools in support of utilities. Recently, Andrew has focused on using OpenStudio to develop a nationwide model of the commercial building stock in the United States, and is particularly interested in the integration of building energy modeling with grid simulation.
Andrew holds a Bachelor of Science in Textile Engineering from North Carolina State University.
