Margie Gardner

Executive Director, California Energy Efficiency Industry Council

Margie joined the Efficiency Council in 2012 after three decades developing energy efficiency and clean energy alternatives in the Pacific Northwest and California. She was most recently CEO of the entrepreneurial nonprofit Bonneville Environmental Foundation (BEF) working on renewable energy, climate change, and watershed restoration. Prior to BEF, she founded and led for over a decade the Northwest Energy Efficiency Alliance (NEEA), an award-winning, multi-state organization that transforms markets for energy-efficiency. Margie also worked for 15 years at the Northwest Power and Conservation Council, advocating for cost-effective energy efficiency in utility programs and integrated resource plans. She started her career with the Natural Resources Defense Council in San Francisco. Margie has also served on numerous boards including the American Council for an Energy Efficient Economy, the Northwest Energy Coalition, Renewables Northwest Project, and the Climate Trust.

Margie has a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of California, Berkeley.
