John is a nationally recognized data and data analysis expert who has been active in the energy efficiency space since its inception during the OPEC oil embargo. He has performed program design, measure and program evaluation, implementation, field and laboratory research, and monitoring work for local clients such as the California Energy Commission, PG&E, SCE, as well as clients from outside of California, like Kansas City Power & Light and Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Water and Electricity. John has also participated in various collaborations to achieve a pathway to consensus on energy efficiency issues—including serving as a voting member of two ASHRAE standards committees in which he has used his analytical expertise to evaluate alternate interpretations and to achieve workable and defensible estimates.
John has a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and is a Registered Professional Engineer. He is also a recipient of the Energy Efficiency Building Association’s Technical Merit Award and was recently inducted into the Building Performance Institute Hall of Fame for “significant and lasting contributions to the building performance industry.”
