Jon McHugh

Jon started developing energy efficiency savings estimates in the early 1990’s, many years before the practice was standardized in California. Back then he was the Assistant Director of the Energy Analysis and Diagnostics Center developed standardized calculation procedures for commonly encountered industrial energy efficiency measures as well as customized calculations for new energy conservation opportunities. In the 25 years he has since spent in the energy efficiency industry Jon has conducted research and developed tools for improved predictions of daylighting performance and has helped develop or upgrade energy codes for Colorado, Canada, ASHRAE 90.1 and California’s Title 24. His most recent projects include energy code strategic planning and developing an implementation plan for achieving widespread adoption of Zero Net Energy Home construction in California by 2020.

Jon has Master and Bachelor of Science degrees in Mechanical Engineering from Colorado State University and is a California Registered Mechanical Engineer.
