George Hernandez 

Staff Scientist, Pacific Northwest National Laboratory

George is currently working with the Department of Energy’s Building Technologies Office as the domain expert for all demand side management projects considered by the Commercial and Residential Integration groups as well as sensors and controls for the Emerging Technologies group. While at the National Lab, he co-developed and deployed the High Performance rooftop unit (RTU) Challenge, The Building Performance Database, Low Cost Wireless Metering Challenge, Retro-Commissioning Suitcase, and the Energy Information Reference Handbook. George has also provided energy efficiency technical expertise to a variety of companies, including General Motors and General Hydrogen, The Irvine Company (commercial real estate), Satterfield and Pontikes (construction), and the California Energy Commission.

George has a Master and a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley and California State University, respectively. He is also a licensed California Professional Engineer and an AEE Certified Energy Manager.
